Women’s Health

As Wholistic Pediatrics & Family Care continues to expand, we are excited to offer a comprehensive range of Women’s Health services. Our approach is rooted in Wholistic, functional medicine, emphasizing the importance of addressing underlying causes and promoting long-term wellness. These services are designed to support women through all stages of life, from routine preventative care to managing complex hormonal imbalances.

Our Women’s Health services include:

  • Well-Woman Exams: Regular exams such as PAP tests, HPV screenings, and STD testing are essential to maintaining reproductive and overall health. We also offer advice on best practices for cervical cancer screening, following guidelines tailored to each age group.
  • Preventative Screenings: Staying ahead of potential health issues is key to long-term wellness. We provide preventative screenings, including mammograms, colorectal cancer testing, bone density (DEXA) scans, and skin cancer checks. Our personalized approach ensures that each patient receives the screenings appropriate for her risk factors and health history.
  • Menstrual Concerns: Monthly periods don’t have to be uncomfortable. Whether you’re dealing with heavy or painful periods, PMS, or more severe conditions like PMDD, we can help identify the root cause of these symptoms. Treatments may range from lifestyle and nutritional changes to bioidentical hormone therapy, offering alternatives to conventional options like oral birth control.
  • PCOS and Pregnancy: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) can complicate both menstrual cycles and pregnancy, but with the right interventions, we can help optimize your health. Our approach to PCOS includes hormone balancing, lifestyle changes, and targeted nutrition to increase fertility and support a healthy pregnancy.
  • Family Planning and Preconception Care: Planning for a family involves more than just timing. We provide wholistic family planning services, focusing on optimizing your health before conception. This includes addressing nutritional deficiencies, assessing hormonal balance, and supporting mental well-being to prepare for a healthy pregnancy and baby.
  • Perimenopause and Menopause: As women approach and enter menopause, hormone fluctuations can lead to symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. We offer a range of treatment options, including bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, to ease this transition and improve quality of life.
  • Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT): BHRT is a safe, effective option for balancing hormones in women experiencing perimenopause, menopause, or other hormonal imbalances. We tailor BHRT treatments to each patient’s specific needs, helping to alleviate symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, mood changes, and more.

Preventative Screenings Tailored to You:

  • Cervical Cancer: We follow the latest guidelines for cervical cancer screening, starting Pap tests at age 21, with co-testing for HPV starting at 30. We’ll work with you to determine the best testing schedule based on your individual risk factors.
  • Colorectal Cancer: For those at high risk (such as having a first-degree relative with colon cancer), we recommend starting colonoscopies at age 40. For lower-risk individuals, we offer options like Cologuard at 45 or colonoscopy starting at age 50.
  • Mammograms and Thermography: Breast cancer screening should begin between ages 40 and 45 for those at low risk, with yearly follow-ups. We also discuss thermography as an alternative or supplemental option for early detection.
  • Bone Density (DEXA): Bone health becomes increasingly important as women age. We recommend starting bone density screenings at 65, but for those at higher risk (due to factors like early menopause or smoking), earlier screenings may be needed.
  • Skin Cancer Screenings: We encourage annual dermatology visits for skin cancer checks, especially if there’s a history of sun exposure or other risk factors.
  • Routine Lab Work: Keeping track of key health markers such as thyroid function, cardiovascular health, and metabolic balance is crucial. We recommend regular lab tests every 4–6 months to stay proactive about your health.
